Enemy
Camera Figure
Updated:
A black silhouette that pushes closer to the screen the longer you stay on the CCTV feed.
Overview
Camera Figure is the security-feed-only encounter that punishes overuse of the surveillance station. It manifests on a broken camera as a black, cat-like silhouette with red dotted eyes and bared teeth, and it slowly magnifies its on-screen footprint the longer the same feed stays open. There is no in-world version of this enemy to walk past — it lives entirely inside the monitor.
What makes Camera Figure dangerous is the jumpscare ceiling. If you stay on the compromised feed too long, the figure forcibly zooms the camera until it fills the screen and triggers a -20 sanity jumpscare. The counter is purely behavioural: rotate cameras frequently, repair broken ones during downtime, and never plant on a single feed when the silhouette is creeping forward.

Key Mechanics
Manifests on a broken security camera and slowly enlarges its view over time. As proximity becomes critical it emits a loud screech, destabilises the screen, and forces a jumpscare zoom.Pros & Cons
Pros
- ✓ Cannot harm you outside the CCTV interface — closing the monitor ends the threat instantly
- ✓ Has two reliable counters (switch feeds, repair broken cameras) that prevent it from ever firing
- ✓ Telegraphs the jumpscare clearly via screech + screen instability
Cons
- ✗ Single jumpscare costs 20 sanity — among the largest single-hit drains in the game
- ✗ Spawns on any broken security camera, so neglected repairs create persistent risk
- ✗ Surveillance is required for several roles, forcing you back to a feed where it can reappear

How to Handle
Treat the CCTV monitor as a shift-long rotation rather than a parking spot. Keep an eye on each feed for the dark cat-like silhouette and the dotted red eyes. The moment one of them starts pushing toward the lens, click off the feed or switch to a different camera. The figure resets — it cannot follow you to another channel.
During downtime between admissions or treatments, route through the maintenance loop and repair every broken camera on the board. A repaired camera removes Camera Figure's spawn surface entirely. If you can't reach a camera to repair it, just stay off that specific feed and use the working ones for coverage.
If the screech audio starts and the screen is already shaking, your window has shrunk to under a second. Look away from the monitor immediately — even closing your eyes through the jumpscare is preferable to staring it down at full zoom. The -20 sanity hit lands either way once the jumpscare animates, but minimising re-exposure on the same feed prevents a second one in the same shift.
Patch History
Camera Figure has been in the live encounter pool since launch. No major balance changes have been documented; the Fandom infobox image was last refreshed in mid-2026.

Frequently Asked Questions
- No. It is bound entirely to the CCTV feed. Closing the monitor or stepping away from the security station ends the threat for that interaction.
- -20 sanity per successful jumpscare. It's a single hit, but it's one of the largest single-event drains in the game.
- Any broken security camera. Repairing the camera during downtime removes that feed as a spawn surface.
- A loud screech paired with visible screen instability. By the time you hear it the window is very short — switch feeds or look away immediately.
- Only if the new camera is also broken. Working cameras are safe; broken ones can each independently host the figure.
- The Fandom infobox is thin, but the encounter is live and documented. We pulled the mechanics from the MediaWiki API and cross-referenced with in-game footage.
- No. Switching away resets the encounter on that specific feed. The figure does not migrate to another channel mid-zoom.
- Security and Secretary, since both spend the most time at the surveillance station and benefit most from disciplined feed rotation plus camera repair.

The damage is your viewing time
Camera Figure only exists inside the CCTV feed. It never spawns in person. The mechanic is straightforward: a dark silhouette appears on the camera and slowly drifts closer to the lens. Per Destructoid, the damage scales with how long you watch — "fatal if prolonged" is the documented warning. Closing the feed or switching cameras ends the encounter.
A counter-instinct for CCTV checks
The Stage 6 anomalies workflow says "always open CCTV for every patient" — and that's still right for anomaly detection. But once you've confirmed there's no anomaly on the feed, close it. Camera Figure punishes the habit of leaving the camera open between patients to scan for things. Open, confirm, close.
Where it fits among CCTV threats
The CCTV layer hosts both passive observers (Shadow Figure — just appears, no progressive damage) and active drains (this enemy — moves toward the lens, damages over time). The distinction matters for response: Shadow Figure you can ignore on the feed; Camera Figure forces you to act.
